Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Kansas City and Homes are going for about $504,400 on average. Household incomes average around $71,767 in Arden-Arcade. The median home value here is around $504,400, which is pretty steep. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Asian places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Riverside area are decent. Kids love it here.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is decent in most areas.
