Is public transit usable in Arden Hills?

OK so We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,847/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's tough.

I'm a nurse and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Chicago it's improving.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I work in real estate here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 36, moved here 6 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Midtown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The traffic situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
