Should I move to Ardmore or stay in Pittsburgh?

Homes are going for about $446,300 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The weather is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Denver about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
