Hey, I relocated for work and Rent is about $494/month for a decent place. Median household income is $21,984, which feels on the lower side for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Bought a house here in 2017 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely pretty good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
