Just moved to Arkadelphia, any tips?

So, I'm a 47-year-old marketing manager and It's a a small town city with about 10,316 people. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Arkadelphia sits at 382.4 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Riverside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
