Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider -Arkansas City sits at 554.7 per 100K. With a population of 11,909, Arkansas City is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Midtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cost of living scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Southern.
