Is Arlington Heights still affordable?

Random thought, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Arlington Heights sits at 43.9 per 100K. Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,727/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.
