Moving to Arlington Heights for work -advice?

Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Eastside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is improving in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely decent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much established but now it's improving.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much established but now it's tough.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (North) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
- The public transit scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
