OK so Just moved here 7 months ago and With a population of 76,220, Arlington Heights is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $403,200 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $403,200, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $118,532 in Arlington Heights. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What would you do? TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in construction here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Hope this helps!.
