Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in West for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a data analyst and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The cultural scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is better than expected in most areas.
