Been meaning to ask this. I work in logistics and Poverty rate is 5.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,275/month for a decent place. With a population of 235K, Arlington is a mid-size city. Average temperature is around 58°F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 46, moved here 12 years ago from New York. I've lived in Eastside and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The walkability situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
