As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much developing but now it's better than expected.

I work in real estate here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is excellent. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The traffic scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I work in legal here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is decent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
