What's it really like living in Arrington?

Hey folks, I'm originally from San Francisco and It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 4 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is tough

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
