Been meaning to ask this. The median home value here is around $714,000, which is pretty steep.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much established but now it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
