Moving to Arvada — what should I know?

I got a job offer in Arvada, CO and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a small city. A few questions:

1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1400-2200 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime rate accurate for day-to-day life?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

For families, I'd recommend looking at Highland Park. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

Don't sleep on Westside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

If you can afford it, Highland Park is the best place to live. Period.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 6/10.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Eastside and Westside are perfectly safe.

Coming from Philadelphia, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

Check out the Riverside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

As someone who moved here from Dallas, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.
