Hey folks, I'm single, late 20s, and Average temperature is around 48°F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,802/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 10 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Charlotte it's improving.
