Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a smaller city city with about 45,551 people. With a population of 45,551, Ashburn is a smaller city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The pet-friendliness is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
