Job market in Ashburn for tech?

Hi all, Been living here since 2017. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Ashburn sits at 194.2 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 45,551 people. Rent is about $2,397/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The walkability is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
