What to expect moving to Asheboro?

My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $162,800, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Asheboro sits at 260.8 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:

- Good schools in most areas

- Strong job market in several industries

- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:

- Limited high-paying job options

- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
