Affordable areas near Asheville?

First post here. I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $67,221 in Asheville. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Asheville? Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
