Is Aspen Hill worth it salary-wise?

Curious what people think. We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 53,752 people. Homes are going for about $538,000 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 3 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 32, moved here 11 years ago from Denver. I've lived in West and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The pet-friendliness situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The safety is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
