Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. With a population of 10,162, Astoria is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Astoria sits at 747.0 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Astoria? Thanks for reading. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
