Freelancing from Atascadero -experience?

Hey folks, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $1,855 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Downtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The traffic scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.
