Life in Atascadero as a young professional

Homes are going for about $673,400 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,855 for rent here. With a population of 29,735, Atascadero is a smaller city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
