Curious what people think. Just moved here 18 months ago and Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Atascadero sits at 212.6 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..
