Living in Atascocita -the reality

Hey everyone, The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,794 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much stable but now it's better than expected.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The dating scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 44, moved here 1 years ago from New York. I've lived in The Heights and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
