Moving to Atascocita with kids -good idea?

OK so Median household income is $114,443, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 5.1%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,794 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Atascocita sits at 680.0 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Tampa about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..
