Cost of living reality check -Atchison

Anyone else feel this way? I work in education and You can expect to pay around $736 for rent here. Rent is about $736/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Close to nature
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.
