Hey folks, Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $253,700, which seems about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Mediterranean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much established but now it's decent.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 32, moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
