Cheapest neighborhoods in Athens?

Alright, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $834/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Athens sits at 156.7 per 100K. With a population of 3,260, Athens is a small town. Household incomes average around $49,588 in Athens. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Sunset area are decent. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.
