Anyone regret moving to Athens?

Hey, Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 13,013, Athens is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,069 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 13,013 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Riverside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in West area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (East) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
