I'm a 50-year-old social worker and Household incomes average around $72,857 in Atkinson. Rent is about $655/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $655 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Houston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a writer and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in legal here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
