Couple moving to Atlantic City from out of state

Random thought, Homes are going for about $189,600 on average. Rent is about $1,084/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 32.5%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $189,600, which is actually reasonable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely underrated and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (North) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a nurse and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
