Living in Atlantic City -the reality

OK so I work in finance and Rent is about $1,084/month for a decent place. Median household income is $36,220, which feels on the lower side for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
