First time home buyer in Atoka

The median home value here is around $283,500, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Atoka sits at 126.2 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
