Attleboro is underrated, change my mind

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Any help is appreciated. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Fairview area are solid. Kids love it here.

I've lived in South for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Portland about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 14 years. Moved from Boston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Limited shopping options. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (South) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Raleigh it's tough.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
