Is public transit usable in Atwater?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $1,219/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $63,945 in Atwater. Homes are going for about $340,600 on average. The unemployment rate is 6.7%, which is concerning. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.
