Worst things about Atwater nobody talks about

Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,219/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $63,945 in Atwater. Poverty rate is 17.9%, which is higher than I expected. Median household income is $63,945, which feels about average for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Limited cultural events
The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from LA about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
