Hey folks, Been living here since 2009. Homes are going for about $143,600 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Auburn sits at 128.1 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Walkable downtown
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
Is this normal for Auburn? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much developing but now it's underrated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in finance here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is better than expected. No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is challenging in most areas.
