Just moved to Auburn, any tips?

With a population of 85,455, Auburn is a smaller city. Median household income is $95,367, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,713/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $510,400, which is pretty steep. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
