I work in construction and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 85,455, Auburn is a smaller city. Median household income is $95,367, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Auburn sits at 393.3 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 24, moved here 1 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Sunset and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
