Commute times in Auburndale -how bad?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $68,267 in Auburndale. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. Homes are going for about $272,700 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Eastside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 3 years. Moved from Raleigh for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
