Best neighborhoods to rent in Augusta-Richmond County?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 52-year-old sales rep and Rent is about $1,087/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 17.6%, which is higher than I expected. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Greenfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The walkability is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 6 years ago from New York. I've lived in Sunset and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Property taxes are high
3. The nightlife situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
