Biggest downsides of living in Augusta-Richmond County?

Hey, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $53,134 in Augusta-Richmond County. Homes are going for about $162,900 on average. The median home value here is around $162,900, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $53,134, which feels on the lower side for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Eastside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
