Career opportunities in Augusta-Richmond County, GA

I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider — Augusta-Richmond County sits at 141.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $162,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,087 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it was the best decision I ever made.
