Commute times in Augusta-Richmond County — how bad?

OK so Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Moved here from Houston about 3 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to traffic but No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The cost of living is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The food scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Highland) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
