Considering Augusta-Richmond County vs Sacramento — help me decide
Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $1,087/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. Appreciate any input.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in construction here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
