Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 8.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 390K, Aurora is a mid-size city. Homes are going for about $444,500 on average. Rent is about $1,759/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. Cheers. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Sunset area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in healthcare here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is improving. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much affordable but now it's improving.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
