Been living here since 2005. Median household income is $90,109, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $260,400 on average. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Aurora? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a software engineer, 55, moved here 13 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Greenfield and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The community vibe situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 1 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
