Couple moving to Aurora from out of state

We have two kids and Household incomes average around $90,109 in Aurora. You can expect to pay around $1,535 for rent here. Median household income is $90,109, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider — Aurora sits at 258.3 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cheers. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Sunset for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

I work in tech here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is improving. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 54, moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Midtown and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The walkability situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The cultural scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 7 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.
